She cried for like 5 seconds and was better because she got a bottle. She was fine the rest of the day to. We get to start rice cereal now. I tried last night but I messed up in the messuring so I just put it in her bottle. Tonight we will try again so we can eat with a spoon. As soon as I have pictures I'll post them.

What Patyn is doing:
Rolling everywhere: She started rolling from her tummy to back at about 3 1/2 months then about two weeks later she figured out the tummy to back and now she goes everywhere. No longer can we leave her in one spot and expect to find her in the same place. She even rolled under our bed yesterday and got stuck. It was pretty funny but she didn't think so.

Playing with toys: At about Easter she discovered that those things hanging from her carseat are pretty neat. She loves to play with the toys on her carseat and on her play mat.

Talking: Miss Patyn loves to talk. As we speak she is on her play mat talking up a storm. At the doctor she made friends with an older lady and just talked and talked to her. Some times she lets out a scream, it's pretty funny.

Smiling: We don't get many giggles from her but we do get big open mouth smiles that just melt your heart.

Church Nursery: Patyn finally went to the nursery during big church the week after Easter. I made it through church but all I could think about was the offitory pray so that I could go get her.

I'll have another post of just pictures because I don't have them all uploaded right now.

2 Months!

My baby is two months old!! Holy cow it is going too fast. She celebrated her two months at Mama D and Papa C's house last weekend. We went for her two month check up and shots on Thursday. She now weighs 10 lbs. and is 23 inches long.

Things Patyn is doing:

* Smiling from the time she wakes up till she goes to bed. It just melts my heart to see her smile. She started smiling at five weeks and it took a lot to get one, but now she does it all the time.

* Talking. Patyn loves to talk to me when she is getting changed. She really enjoys laying down and talking and kicking her legs. That is when she is happy the most.

* Standing up. If we hold her up she wants to stand on her legs. This started a couple of weeks ago. She gets excited to stand.

* Sleeping at night! Praise the Lord. So far for the past week Patyn will go down around 10pm and sleep till 6am. Some nights she will get up and eat others she doesn't. Thursday morning I woke up scared because she had been sleeping for so long. Lots of thoughts went through my mind but she was perfectly fine.

* She's still eating about every three to four hours when she is with me. At Dana's she goes longer and is eating about 4 ounces.

* Patyn is a great traveler. We've gone to Artesia twice and Dallas and she sleeps the whole time in the car.

Patyn is such a happy baby and we love her so much. Nothing like waking up in the morning to see that sweet smile.

Patyn's Story

Wow! Hard to believe that my baby girl is going to be one month old tomorrow. She's growing so fast and I'm not sure I like that. I was lucky to have so much time off of work and it's quickly getting close for me to go back. It won't be hard leaving her because I know she will be in good hands but I just don't want to go back. I love my job but I'd much rather be a stay at home mom.

I thought I would share Patyn's birth story with you....

Sunday December 20th we went into the hospital at 1 am to be induced. My doctor was on call that day so that's why we went in. We get up to the family birth center and get put in a room and wait and wait for the nurse to come in. Finally she comes in and gets me all checked in. We call my parents in from the waiting room and start the long wait for Patyn. They started me on Pit. at about 3am. I didn't really feel any of the contractions and I was just trying to rest. At shift change my new nurse asked me if I wanted to have an epidural and I said yes please with out skipping a beat. She said that the guy was already on the floor and she would put me on the list to get mine started. About an hour or so later he became my best friend. Since I hadn't been on the Pit. that long I never had to feel the strong contractions and the best part is I didn't have to feel my doctor stretch my cervex. She did it once before the epidural and that was bad but she came back after and really worked her magic. I got a little more sleep after the epidural and just waited to dialate. I was at a five for the longest time. Then at about 6 pm I told the nurse I felt some pressure and she checked me and said I was at an 8 to 9. Ryan had gone out of the room so I had my mom call him to come back. At about 6:15 I started shaking like crazy and the pressure was becoming more and more intense. Ryan and I had already decided that it would be just us in the room when it came time to deliver, so we kicked everybody out and things started happening. My doctor was in the OR doing a C-section and so my nurse checked me and I was at a 10. On a side note....my nurse Laura was the best. She really was good at what she did. At about 7 minutese till seven I started pushing or at least they said I was. I still couldn't feel a thing. After pushing for a while Dr. Farooqi came in and helped me push for a while. We tried the holding a towel thing and holding my legs. I was pushing for what seemed like forever and I soon realized that my doctor was gone. Ryan said she was gone for like 20 or more minutes. He even saw her at the nurse's station chatting. It's weird how they know how long it's going to be. Finally she came back and we really started getting after it. She was having me hold her hand and pull. Turns out Patyn was still on my right side and her face was turned a little so after they straightned her out it didn't take too long. After more than an hour of pushing our precious baby was here. They laid her on me and started cleaning her off. She wasn't really crying. She was making a noise that was kinda like a grunt. So they took her to the crib thing to clean her more and do some sucktion in her nose and mouth. They still couldn't get her to really cry so they called NICU in and had them look at her. They told us that she probably just had some stuff still in her and that she would be in NICU for 3 days. That was the last we saw of her for about 4 hours. My parents and Ryan's came in after they had me all cleaned up and they moved me to the recovery floor. We were told that we would go to NICU in about 2 hours and we would get to hold her and everything. Well that wasn't true. We didn't see her till about midnight and she was on a c-pap machine and all kinds of wires. That was when we were told that she would be there a min. of 7 days. We were heart broken. We were looking forward to having her home for Christmas and then they tell us it would be at least a week. They didn't even really want us touching her because they didn't want to stress her out. Ryan and I stayed in the NICU for a while and then let our parents go in and see her.

Each day Patyn was in the NICU she got better. Turns out she had a little bit of pnuemonia and had three spots on her lungs that weren't staying open so that's why she was on oxygen. Everyday they lowered the oxygen level and she finally got to eat breastmilk at 2 days. We were able to give her her first bath and bottle. On Friday night I got to breast feed her and that was the best experience ever. No problems with it either.

Ryan was so good with Patyn. I had to beg him to come to the room and get some sleep. He would stay in the NICU for hours just watching her. We were there for most of her hands on times which were every three hours. We were even there at 8 in the morning after the big snow storm. It took us 45 minutes to get there but we wanted to spend as much time as we could with her.

On that Friday night the nurse asked us if we really wanted to room in with her before we got to go home. We were told that we had too but he said that the doctors noticed how comfortable we were around her that they didn't think we needed to stay. We were so happy and excited to hear that we would be able to take her home Sunday afternoon. So Sunday came and we were at the hospital at 8 in the morning and we watched the manditory CPR video. The doctor even came to check her over before the rounds so that we didn't have to wait on her. Around 12:30 we were leaving the hospital with our baby.

And now it's been a month and we are so blessed with this sweet baby girl...

Come on Already...

Wow, I'm really bad at this blogging stuff. Not a lot has been going on. The pregnancy has been pretty much perfect. I have really enjoyed being pregnant but now I'm ready for her to be here.

I went to the doctor yesterday for my 39 week check up. I was hoping she would say pack your bag you're going to have a baby but she said I'll probably go past my due date. Bummer! She check me and said that my cervex is still long and that I'm about 1cm dilated. There is a glimmer of hope that it can shorten and she'll be here before the 17th but not likely. Dr. Farooqui said that if she is not here by next Thursdays appointment then she would induce me if I wanted to. I'm thinking that will be a yes. I want to have Patyn here before Christmas and I don't want to be in the hospital during that time. So here's to hoping and praying something happens before the 17th.

Come on Patyn, your room is ready for you and so are we!!

Only took 7 months but....

We have an agreement on the spelling of our sweet baby girl's name!

It will be Patyn Grace.

On our way to Fredericksburg, Ryan said that if we can get into the Texas/Tech game we can spell her name the way I want to. Of course he changed his mind after I was in all agreement. After much deliberation we decided on Patyn, after the teacher in me went through the phonics rules and everything trying to figure out if it was phonetically correct. I know it may look like Pat-ton but its not.

So about the game...We drove to Austin which was about an hour on chance that we might get tickets from a scalper. Well after walking around for two hours, on top of walking at the trade days, we came across someone who was willing to sell two for $120. I thought it was a scam because it was just a stub of a ticket. What do you know it was! So after finding out we were screwed the event guy told us just to hang out around an area until we were asked to move. So we thought we would walk around and try to find something. But after walking around forever I was done! I told Ryan I was done and wanted to leave regardless of how much money we would be out. So on our way out on the upper deck we came across two handicap seats and Ryan asked if anyone was sitting there and no one was. So we thought we would sit there until somebody asked us to move, and nobody did! We were stuck between drunkin idoits but were still able to watch the game.

All in all the weekend was great. However I have shin splints now thanks to all that walking!

Please excuse the hair. The tech check the baby head to toe and said everything looked wonderful. About ten minutes in she said that we are having a little GIRL!!!! We are so excited. My mom and Ryan's mom were able to experience this with us and they were so excited too. It's about time for a girl on both sides of the family. Also, I dont' know how I was the only one watching but I saw her flip butt over head on the ultrasound. It was so weird. I can't wait to fill her moving.

Her name will be Payton Grace, however the spelling is still an issue. We told the youth this morning that we were having a girl and that they were going to be the deciding vote on the spelling. I want Paetyn and Ryan wants Payton. The youth voted for Paetyn. We didn't tell them who wanted which and my spelling won! Ryan said that we would go with what they picked but it's looking like he won't budge. Which ever way it's spelt we still have a wonderful gift from God.

News to come

Just wanted to share that we do know the sex of the baby but I can't say until it is announced at youth sunday morning so that news doesn't leak out. I didn't see the doctor, it was just my enrollment appointment so I only saw the nurse. She said that I am 12 and 3 days as of today. The due date is December 17. Which is really cool because my birthday is the 9th and my dad's is the 16th. So either one of us could share a birthday with the baby. I go back to the doctor on the 2nd. This visit we got to hear the heart beat! I was worried that they wouldn't do anything and I would have to wait four more weeks to make sure there was actually something in there. haha It was really neat to hear the heart beat. It took her forever though to find it. I don't know how long she actually searched for it but it seemed like a lifetime. Finally she went lower and she found it. Our insurance will finally take over on July 1st. So next visit will be covered and I will have to do the lab work that I was suppose to do Friday.

On a side note, we are trying to train the dogs to stay off the furniture. I moved their bed into the living room and make them lay on it if they try to get on the couch. They were doing pretty good until I went to Artesia Friday and Saturday. I came home and that was the first thing they did. I don't think Ryan made them get off while I was gone. So pray that training goes well and that we won't have too much trouble with them. They, well mostly Dakota, still sleeps in our bed. It's hard to work on that when we don't even know that she ends up in bed with us. She's like a deer and can jump high standing right by the bed. These dogs have no idea what they are about to be in for.

Good News

We got good news this morning. However, I finally have something to blog about....

I'm PREGNANT!!!

I found out last Tuesday but knew that I was before I took the test. We had to keep it to ourselves until we had a chance to tell my parents first. We couldn't think of a good time to go so we decided just to head to Crane when I got back from the women's retreat. Boy was that hard to be surrounded by a bunch of women and not be able to say anything. So late Saturday night we told my parents, Sunday we told our Truth Project group, Monday we told Ryan's parents, and then the rest of the world.

So far I haven't gotten sick, but it seems like every since we told people I started feeling icky at night and then some in the morning. Really the only symptom I have is peeing every two seconds. I already went to the bathroom a lot before and now it's twice as worse.

Now for the not so good news. Wednesday we found out that our insurance does not cover pregnancy. All this time we were under the assumption that we were covered but we aren't. So I went and applied for medicaid but won't find out anything until three weeks from now. However, I've been told that Ryan makes too much and most likely I won't get approved. We also have someone looking into other insurance companies to see if I can't get on with any of them. I know it will all work out but the waiting sucks.

I'm thinking I'll be due somewhere around mid December. Mine and my dad's birthdays are in December so that will be cool to see if I have the baby on one of our birthdays. I won't get to go to the doctor until I know how on earth we will be able to pay for doctors visits. I've called a few offices to see what their cash pay out play is so I'll at least know somewhat of what it's going to cost if we have to pay out of pocket.

I am so excited but yesterday threw a kink into the perfect pregnancy.

Job...

There once was a girl

Who graduated in December.

She worked so hard

For her parents to please.

She has a degree

That's being wasted,

Because she doesn't

Have a JOB!!!!!!!

Since the stupid economy has gone to poo my parents aren't going to be able to help us like they have.
